Binance regularly launches new tokens through two distinct programs — Launchpool and Launchpad. Many users confuse them or use them interchangeably, but they work very differently and carry different risk profiles. This guide breaks down every key difference, how to participate, expected returns, and which option suits your strategy in 2026.
Both programs give Binance users early access to new token projects before or at listing. The core distinction:
Launched in 2020, Binance Launchpool allows users to stake BNB, FDUSD (or occasionally other tokens) in dedicated farming pools. In return, you receive new project tokens proportional to your staked amount and duration.
Launchpool has distributed tokens for major projects including Notcoin (NOT), Hamster Kombat (HMSTR), DOGS, Scroll (SCR), and many others through 2025–2026.
Binance Launchpad is the original token launch platform, launched in 2019. It operates as a token sale — users commit BNB during a subscription or lottery window to purchase the new token at a pre-determined price.
Notable Launchpad projects include projects that often 3x–10x on listing day — but not all projects maintain those gains. Risk management is essential.
| Feature | Launchpool | Launchpad |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanism | Stake → Farm tokens | Commit BNB → Buy tokens |
| Capital risk | None (principal returned) | Yes (BNB exchanged) |
| Lock-up | No (flexible) | Sometimes (post-listing) |
| Eligibility | Anyone with BNB/FDUSD | BNB holders (lottery/subscription) |
| Reward type | Free new tokens | New tokens at presale price |
| Typical APR | 20%–200%+ (annualized, project-dependent) | N/A (profit from price increase) |
| Frequency | Multiple per month | 1–2 per month |
| Participation method | Stake in pool | Lottery ticket / subscription |
| Best for | Passive income, risk-averse | Higher-conviction project bets |

Identity verification is required to participate in Launchpool and Launchpad. Go to Profile → Verification and complete Level 1 KYC (takes ~5 minutes).
Buy BNB on the Spot market or deposit BNB from another wallet. You can also use FDUSD (Binance's stablecoin) for the FDUSD pool. BNB pool typically offers significantly higher APR.
Tap Earn (bottom menu) → Launchpool. You'll see active projects. If none is active, check back — new Launchpool campaigns start almost every week.
Tap a project → Select pool (BNB or FDUSD) → Enter amount → Confirm. Rewards start accruing immediately and are distributed hourly. You can unstake at any time.
Farmed tokens appear in your Spot Wallet. When the project lists on Binance Spot, you can hold, trade, or sell them. Check the listing announcement for exact timing.
Binance takes daily snapshots of your BNB balance for 7 days before the subscription starts. The 7-day average determines your ticket count or allocation size. Move BNB to your Spot Wallet well in advance.
Launchpad projects are announced on the Binance Blog and in-app notifications. Subscribe to alerts so you don't miss the subscription window (usually 1–2 days).
Go to Earn → Launchpad → Select the project → Subscribe. Commit BNB within the window. If it's a lottery system, tickets are assigned based on BNB holdings.
For lottery: results announced after window closes. Winners receive token allocation; BNB from non-winners is refunded. For subscription: all participants receive tokens proportional to BNB committed.
Tokens typically list 1–3 days after the Launchpad concludes. Have a sell strategy ready — first-hour volatility on listing day is extreme.
Launchpool returns vary wildly based on total staked amount, token price at listing, and farming period length.
Scenario: You stake 10 BNB ($6,000) for 10 days in a Launchpool with 50M tokens allocated and $2M total BNB staked.
Your share = $6,000 / $2,000,000 = 0.3% of pool
Your tokens = 0.003 × 50,000,000 = 150,000 new tokens
If token lists at $0.01 → you farmed $1,500 of free tokens (~25% return on BNB value in 10 days)
Note: Actual returns depend on token price at listing and total pool participation.
Scenario: You commit 2 BNB ($1,200) to Launchpad. Presale price: $0.05/token. You receive 24,000 tokens.
If listing price = $0.20 → profit of $3,600 (3× return)
If listing price = $0.04 → loss of $240 (-20%)
Higher risk but higher ceiling compared to Launchpool.
The right choice depends on your risk tolerance, capital size, and how much you believe in a specific project.
| Your Profile | Recommendation | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Risk-averse / passive income | Launchpool ✅ | Zero principal risk, consistent free tokens |
| BNB hodler (long-term) | Launchpool ✅ | BNB works for you while you hold |
| High conviction on a project | Launchpad ✅ | Potential for 3–10× return if project performs |
| Small capital (<$500) | Launchpool ✅ | Easier to participate without lottery luck |
| Large BNB holdings (>$10K) | Both ✅ | Stake most in Launchpool, allocate some to Launchpad |
A common 2026 strategy: keep a core BNB position staked in Launchpool permanently for passive token farming, and use discretionary capital for Launchpad when a project looks particularly promising.
